What Is A Graphite Mold? Why Is It Used In Casting Metals? Graphite Molds In Castings.

Graphite :

Elements & Compounds a blackish soft allotropic form of carbon in hexagonal crystalline

form: used in pencils, crucibles, and electrodes, as lubricant, as a moderator in nuclear
reactors, and, in a carbon fibre form, as a tough light weight material for sporting equipment.

Graphite is the most stable form of carbon under standard conditions. Therefore, it is used in thermochemistry as the standard state for defining the heat of formation of carbon compounds.

What Is A Graphite Mold?:

A graphite mold is a block of graphite that has been cut out in a way and shape that you would like to cast metals.

Why Is It Used In Casting Metals?:

Graphite has a much higher melting point than the metals that are being poured in the
molds.
